Salicornia Europaea

A fleshy stemmed annual plant with a high salt content, the Salicornia, also known
as glasswort or samphire, just might be the next culinary herb sensation.
Eaten raw, quickly fried, steamed or microwaved, this high-protein plant is a
surprising addition to salads, soups, hot dishes and a perfect accompaniment for
fish & seafood plates.

Natively, the Salicornia is highly adapted to the sea shore and covered by salt water
for much of the day with the ebb & flow of the tides.
We at Hishtil have developed it as a conventional plant rooted in soil and
irrigated with regular water. Now, it is suitable for growing outdoors in pots or in
greenhouses, up to 30 cm.

Two weeks before harvesting, it is important to irrigate with brackish water to
achieve the ultimate salty taste!
